The 20-year-old cited an ongoing upper leg injury, compounded by a new issue in his left leg, as the reasons for his decision. Alcaraz was scheduled to play on Saturday, but after reviewing medical scans, he opted out of the tournament.

Alcaraz Confirms Medical-Driven Decision

Alcaraz revealed that the upper leg discomfort he experienced during the Barcelona Open final last Sunday has worsened. In addition, a new strain in his left leg has emerged, forcing him to reassess his fitness levels. “After undergoing tests, my team and I have decided it’s best to not compete in Madrid,” said Alcaraz in a statement shared on social media.
