T Narasipura (Mysuru): A local court in T Narasipura has issued summons to Kannada film actor Darshan and his wife Vijayalakshmi in connection with the illegal possession of exotic migratory birds at their farmhouse. The couple has been asked to appear before the court on July 4 for a hearing.

Forest officials had earlier raided Darshan’s farmhouse located at Kempayanahundi in T Narasipura taluk, Mysuru district, where they found four exotic bar-headed geese, a protected species under the Wildlife Protection Act. These birds, which are native to Central Asia and known for their seasonal migration, cannot be kept in captivity without proper permission.

Darshan had claimed that the birds were gifted to him by friends. However, a case was registered against him under the Wildlife Protection laws for keeping banned species. The bar-headed goose is recognized as a wild migratory bird, and unauthorized possession is considered an offence under Indian law.
