A drone from Lebanon on Saturday hit Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's private residence in the coastal city of Caesarea with no casualties reported, PMO confirmed.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of PM Netanyahu and his wife Sara, PMO said. Meanwhile, the Israel Defence Forces said that the military intercepted two other drones that had crossed into Israeli airspace from Lebanon.
One of the drones from Lebanon was able to fly lower than radar system and passed through the Israeli's helicopter. Several unknown social media posts claimed that the same drone later hit the Israeli PM's private residence in Caesarea. The video was shared by the Times of Israel and Iran military.
It was a retaliatory attack after Israel killed several top leaders of Hamas, including Yahya Sinwar whose death was confirmed by their group on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, Hezbollah announced its intention to escalate the conflict by deploying additional guided missiles and explosive drones into Israeli territory.
The group's long-standing commander, Hassan Nasrallah, was also killed in an Israeli air raid in late September, prompting Israel to deploy ground forces in Lebanon earlier this month.
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, mourned the death of Sinwar, but emphasised that Hamas has persevered despite the deaths of other Palestinian militant leaders in the past.
"I congratulate the family of Yahya #alSinwar, his comrades, and all those devoted to jihad on the path of God on the martyrdom of our brother, Yahya al-Sinwar, and I offer my condolences for this loss," Khamenei said.
In a series of tweets, he further added, "As always, we will stand by the sincere Palestinian mujahideen and fighters."
