BHOPAL: Pakistan would face a "strong response" if it attempted any "cowardly act", Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi warned, declaring that the armed forces were fully prepared for Operation Sindoor 2.0 . He said India's cross-border strikes in May upheld national values by targeting only terrorist hideouts and avoiding civilian or military areas.

"At all terrorist locations we destroyed, we made sure it was never at a time when people were offering namaz or prayers. We targeted only places where terrorists lived. We did not attack civilian areas or military establishments," Gen Dwivedi said. "We achieved what we wanted and made Pakistan understand that we are not like them - we are followers of Dharmayuddh."

Speaking at Sainik School Rewa, his alma mater where he studied alongside current Navy chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, the Army chief said Friday: "We have made complete preparations for Operation Sindoor 2.0. If they commit any cowardly act, they will get a strong response."

Recalling the May 7-10 Operation Sindoor, launched after the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, he said India struck terrorist infrastructure inside Pakistan & POK "with the combined strength of principles and technology".

Gen Dwivedi described the operation as "a symbol of India's unity and restraint", adding that "for the first time, all three services and the entire nation came together under one name - Operation Sindoor."
