Indian Railways to launch Vande Bharat Sleeper train; Delhi-Howrah route on the list

NEW DELHI: Indian Railways is set to introduce Vande Bharat Sleeper train on several key routes, including one between Delhi and Howrah.

This will be the third premium service on this route, after the Rajdhani Express and the Duronto Express.

Developed by BEML with integral coach factory technology, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train was unveiled by Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in September 2024.

Delhi to Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper train: Distance, travel time, speed

The Delhi to Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper train will cover a distance of 1449 km in under 15 hours. Designed to run at a top speed of 160 kmph, it will become the fastest train on the route, outpacing both the Rajdhani and Duronto Express.

During its journey between New Delhi and Howrah, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train will halt at major stations including Kanpur Central, Prayagraj Junction, DD Upadhyaya Junction, Gaya Junction, Dhanbad Junction, and Asansol Junction.

The train will consist of 16 coaches – 11 AC 3-tier coaches, 4 AC 2-tier coaches, and 1 First Class AC coach. The fare is expected to be around Rs 3000 for AC 3-tier, Rs 4000 for AC 2-tier, and Rs 5100 for First Class AC.

New Delhi to Howrah Vande Bharat time table

The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is expected to depart from New Delhi (NDLS) at around 17:00 hrs and reach Howrah Junction at 08:00 hrs. On the return journey, it will leave Howrah Junction at 17:00 hrs and arrive in the national capital at 08:00 hrs the next day.
