HYDERABAD: An Intelligence Bureau officer posted in Hyderabad was among those killed in the terror attack in Pahalgam while on vacation with his family. IB sources said Manish Ranjan, originally from Bihar, was killed in front of his family. Ranjan was on leave and had taken his wife & children to Kashmir for a summer holiday.
Initial reports suggest his wife and kids are safe, though officials are verifying their status. Ranjan had served in the ministerial section of the IB's Hyderabad office for the past two years and lived in official residential quarters in the city. Navy officer Lt Vinay Narwal (26) from Haryana's Karnal district was on vacation with his newlywed wife when he was killed in the attack. Narwal, posted in Kochi, married Himanshi Narwal on April 16. There was no official confirmation on her condition at the time of filing of this report.
Preliminary reports said Narwal was shot in chest, neck, and left arm, and was declared dead on arrival at hospital. He is survived by his parents and a sister. His father Rajesh Narwal is a GST department superintendent in Panipat.
