The Los Angeles Dodgers also lost a starter. Right-handed starter Tyler Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injured list because of right shoulder inflammation and pain. That was before Monday night's game against the Miami Marlins. In his place, the team brought up relief pitcher Noah Davis from the minor league team. This is the fourth injury to one of the Dodgers' best pitchers to occur at the start of the season.

Tyler Glasnow is back on IL with shoulder problems

Tyler Glasnow left his last start against the Pittsburgh Pirates after throwing in the second inning of warm-ups. He said that he experienced something "grab" with his final pitches before the start of the inning. The team would later call it "right shoulder discomfort." Tyler Glasnow did not receive an MRI or any imaging at the time, and the Dodgers did not think that the shoulder was structurally sound.

Before putting him on the injured list, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reported that Tyler Glasnow was being evaluated by the team doctors with "overall body soreness" which they assumed had nothing to do with his shoulder issue. Dave Roberts reported that they were attempting to get all of that taken care of in advance so that by the time Tyler Glasnow comes back, he's ready to go.

Tyler Glasnow had five starts this season, going 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 18 innings. Yet his last two turns were shortened because of health issues. He was pulled from his April 20 start in Texas after four-plus innings with leg cramps. Then Sunday's shoulder stiffness.

Tyler Glasnow said after the game that he'd experienced some pain in his shoulder recently. He believes it is a side effect of some of the adjustments that he made in his mechanics and his strength work leading into the season.

Dodgers lose Tyler Glasnow to another injury
Tyler Glasnow was excellent in Spring Training with his new pitch. He also altered his between-starts regimen, eliminating weighted ball throwing and performing long tosses with less stress. All of these were an attempts to keep him healthy throughout the season. But by the end of April, things were no longer the same, and the soreness came back.

Tyler Glasnow has had injuries plague him throughout his entire career. His last season was marred in August when he was ailing from tendinitis in his elbow and lost the Dodgers' postseason. This is just another obstacle to overcome.

To compound the Dodgers' misery, Blake Snell is also out with shoulder inflammation on the injured list. He was nearly ready to come back, but was shut down once again last week. The Dodgers are being very careful with both Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow and are hoping to have both fully up to speed later in the season when games are most crucial.
