Ranchi: Passengers travelling from the Birsa Munda International Airport here on Saturday and Sunday mornings will have to prepare early as flight departures of three major carriers were rescheduled because of the proposed air show in the city on both days. The airport management has assured that normal flight operations will resume once the aerial display concludes.
Airport officials confirmed that the rescheduling was done because of the scheduled air display. Among the affected flights is the Air India Express Ranchi to Delhi flight, originally scheduled for 9:40 am, which has now moved to 9:20 am. Similarly, an IndiGo flight on the same route was rescheduled to 9:25 am from its initial timing of 9:50 am.
Further, another IndiGo flight from Ranchi to Hyderabad had its departure time adjusted by 10 minutes with the revised schedule set at 10:45 am, instead of the original 10:55 am.
Explaining the reschedules, airport director R R Mourya said, "The flight timings have been rescheduled for the convenience of the passengers as the air traffic is expected to be busy because of the air show. Authorities have adjusted the schedules to ensure the safety and smooth operations of the event."
The airport authorities have also advised passengers to maintain contact with their respective airlines and check the real-time updates before departing for the airport to avoid inconvenience.
Meanwhile, several passengers have expressed frustration over the lack of prior communication regarding the changes. Gautam Das, a Lalpur resident who will be travelling on Saturday, said, "There was no proper announcement or prior notice. I have urgent work in Delhi and now everything is uncertain."
