Ludhiana: With determination, family support and a school that made room for his needs, Jaiveer Singh, a teenager living with cerebral palsy, has successfully completed Class XII, scoring 77% in the mass media stream.
Jaiveer, a student of BCM Arya Model School, Shastri Nagar, Ludhiana, for the past 15 years, secured 90 marks in multimedia — his favourite subject and a key stepping stone toward his dream of becoming a film director and producer. "I've worked hard for this, and I'm proud of what I've achieved," he said after the results were announced. "I want to tell others — hard work always pays off."
Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition caused by abnormal brain development or damage to the developing brain. It primarily affects movement, posture, and muscle coordination, and often comes with associated challenges such as speech difficulties, learning disabilities, or seizures. While it is not progressive, the lifelong condition requires ongoing therapy and support.
Despite being unable to climb stairs, Jaiveer's school ensured his education remained uninterrupted by relocating his classes to the ground floor. "His mass media classes were moved downstairs," said his mother, Arvinder Kaur. "The school went out of its way to help him feel included."
His father, Harpreet Singh, who runs an auto parts business, said Jaiveer's success is a testament to perseverance. "He has never let his condition define his limits. He dreams big, and we'll continue to support him." Jaiveer attributes his success not only to his parents and teachers, but also to his classmates. "My friends never made me feel different. Their support means everything," he said.
For individuals living with cerebral palsy, emotional resilience, physical therapy, accessible education, and a supportive community can make a significant difference. Families often play a central role in navigating medical, social and academic hurdles. Jaiveer's story is not just one of academic achievement, but also of inclusion and empowerment. As he sets his sights on the world of filmmaking, he hopes to inspire others to pursue their dreams — regardless of the challenges they face.
