Two die of electrocution in Lucknow

Lucknow: Two separate incidents of electrocution occurred in Lucknow on Monday, resulting in the death of two persons.

In the first incident, a 30-year-old man, Mithun Kumar, died after coming into contact with a high-tension wire while working on a boundary wall construction at his home in Karjan village under the Kakori police station.

According to the police, Mithun was lifting an iron pipe on the roof of his house when it touched the nearby high-tension wire, causing him to be electrocuted. "Despite being rushed to the hospital by his family, Mithun was declared dead. The body has been sent for the post-mortem examination," said the police.

In the second incident, a liquor shop salesman Pankaj Lodhi lost his life to electrocution in Banthra area. Pankaj, 30, was electrocuted after touching a live iron pipe outside his shop.

According to SHO Santosh Kumar Singh, the incident took place around 8:30 am when Pankaj, after taking a bath, went to open the shop and touched the iron pipe attached to a tin shed. He was electrocuted instantly. "The liquor shop, located near the Hanuman temple on Kanpur Road, is owned by Rishi Pratap Singh. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination," the SHO added.
