Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have bought a new residence in Portugal sparking speculations about their intentions of improving ties with the Royal Family, The Daily Mail revealed on Friday, citing sources. The report noted that the new house could allow Prince Harry to reconnect with old friends from the UK. "Maybe Portugal is somewhere where Harry can escape to with a bunch of his mates. He's lost touch with a lot of old friends as well from Britain but if he says then 'Come on, why don't you come join me in Portugal for a few days?," the author of the article, Richard Eden, said. In another instance, Eden noted that this acquisition might be a part of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's intentions to portray as "rival royals" in Europe. The report further added that 'acquiring a Golden Visa would help Meghan as she and her husband develop their plans to become the 'rival royals' across the water, enabling them to travel easily through European countries'. The report also speculated that the new property could bring Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie closer to him. Princess Eugenie is based in Portugal with her husband Jack Brooksbank. The new property is reported to be a holiday residence for the royal couple, as reported by the Daily Mail.Eden also laid out the benefits of owing a property in Europe in his report. He stated, "One intriguing aspect is that, until quite recently, Portugal had a deal whereby buying property allowed you to obtain what they termed a 'golden visa'. This now provides unrestricted access throughout Europe."
