
A pretty UK city is a popular draw for tourists, but it really comes alive at Christmas - and its festive market is said to be the 'best' in the country. December is a special time and the Christmas month becomes even more magical as you wander cobbled lanes and stare in awe at the unique buildings in this special UK city.
Bath Christmas Market was voted 'best in the UK' in a poll in 2024 via 'European Best Destinations'. The city is already a great spot to enjoy independent shops and of course the famous Roman Baths, but at Christmastime it's also a perfect place to soak up traditional festivities. Last December, visitors were 'impressed with the lights, decorations and incredibly talented musicians that were dotted around' the city of Bath during the Christmas market time.
The website for Bath Christmas Market reported it was voted as 'one of the Best Christmas Markets in Europe' and 'the Best Christmas Market in the UK' in 2024 via a European Best Destinations poll.
Bath Christmas Market's website reads: "Set in the heart of Bath's UNESCO World Heritage city, nestled among the cobbled streets and historic landmarks like Bath Abbey, it provides a magical, romantic atmosphere.
"Visitors can soak in the festive cheer while exploring independent boutiques, designer stores, and high-street brands, making Bath a must-visit Christmas destination."
There's plenty of time to plan your visit as Bath's Christmas Market begins on Thursday, November 27 and runs until Sunday, December 14, 2025, it takes place in the city's historic centre and is free to attend.
Last year, a couple reviewed the festive experience on TripAdvisor, writing: "We loved the Bath market. It made us feel very Christmassy.
"230 stalls gave plenty of choice, I would go later in the day when you get the full effect of the lights and have a warming mulled wine."
Another enthusiastic reviewer said it was 'the best I have visited outside of Germany' and the atmosphere was praised by many who visited in November and December 2024.
One impressed visitor reviewing Bath's Christmas market on TripAdvisor described it as 'nice and not tacky like some Christmas markets'
They wrote: "Nice to see an actual Christmas market with nice ,different and good quality items.
"We travelled from near Walsall to the Bath area for a couple of nights and this really made the start of our Christmas.
"Loved the bagpipes, saxophonists playing tunes in different areas.The food and drinks were reasonable prices and clean caterers. It was not absolutely packed.
"This was the nicest one we've been to, we felt safe around the market and city and loved the variety of stalls and the prices were decent though some were expensive, but nice to look at, yes, we would go again."
