Red Bull youngster Tim Tramnitz was stripped of his F3 Sprint Race victory at Monza over the weekend following a post-race investigation. But the 20-year-old isn't the only racing driver to have a win taken off him in the aftermath of the event.
Tramnitz, who competes for MP Motorsport as part of Red Bull's junior team, crossed the chequered flag in first position in Monza after a fine effort in the Sprint Race. But he was adjudged to have failed to correctly engage the start procedure and was subsequently slapped with a 10-second penalty. The sanction saw him drop out of the top 10. While Tramnitz will be berating his bad fortune in Italy, he can at least take solace from the fact he isn't the only driver to be denied victory in a similar manner. And Express Sport takes a look at five other drivers who suffered a similar fate.
Michael Schumacher | 1994 Belgian Grand PrixMichael Schumacher dominated the 1994 F1 season but was disqualified after finishing second at the British Grand Prix for ignoring a black flag.
The German, who was driving for Benetton at the time, continued to race after his team appealed the decision and claimed victory in Belgium three races down the line. But he was again disqualified due to excessive skid block wear on his car.
He was ultimately banned for two races following his misdemeanour at Silverstone but still went on to win his maiden title.
Ayrton Senna | 1989 Japanese Grand PrixAyrton Senna's disqualification at the 1989 Japanese Grand Prix is one of the most famous in F1 history.
Senna had a fierce rivalry with his McLaren team-mate Alain Prost during that season, with the Frenchman entering the penultimate race in Suzuka with a healthy lead over the Brazilian at the top of the standings.
The pair collided on the track with six laps remaining, with Prost forced to retire from the race immediately. Senna, however, was able to continue and went on to claim victory. But his win was nullified after it became apparent that he had cut a chicane after returning to the track.
While Lewis Hamilton has never had a race victory taken away from him, he did lose his P1 starting position ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint Race in 2021.
The Briton was hunting down Max Verstappen's lead at the top of the Drivers' Championship when he secured top spot in Sprint qualifying.
But he was demoted to the back of the pack due to a DRS infringement. He eventually finished fifth in the Sprint race after a sensational drive but went on to miss out on the title after finishing second to Verstappen in the season-decider in Abu Dhabi.
George Russell | 2024 Belgian Grand PrixGeorge Russell appeared to pull off a sublime victory at last year's Belgian Grand Prix after Mercedes implemented a one-stop strategy for the Briton.
But a technical delegate's report soon confirmed that his car was 1.5kg below the minimum weight, and he was disqualified. Hamilton was therefore deemed the winner after Russell's Mercedes team-mate was promoted from second.
Nikola Tsolov | 2025 Austrian Grand PrixTramnitz's sanction comes after his F3 rival Nikola Tsolov was also stripped of a race victory over the summer.
Tsolov led every lap of June's Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg after starting from pole as he finished nearly seven seconds ahead of his nearest rival. But he was disqualified after the race as the plank of his car wasn't within the regulatory limit. And Martinius Stenshorne was therefore handed his first F3 feature race victory.
