Palestine protests LIVE: Two groups clash at demonstration as police make arrests

Send Push

Police have made a "small number of arrests" at the pro-Palestine march in London after a small group of counter-protesters breached their conditions by demonstrating at the form up point of the Palestine Coalition demonstration. A Met Police post on X said: "A small group of counter protesters breached their conditions by demonstrating at the form up point of the Palestine Coalition protest. This led to a scuffle between several individuals from the two groups. Officers were quickly on the scene to separate those involved, making a small number of arrests."

The Met Police ramped up measures under the Public Order Act to avert clashes during what organisers bill as the largest pro-Palestine march yet. Hundreds of thousands are expected to assemble at Victoria Embankment in London from noon for the 32nd national demonstration since October 2023. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign-led event will march across Westminster Bridge to a rally in Whitehall, galvanised by the Israel-Hamas ceasefire that took effect Friday.
