Most people know that getting sand stuck on your wet feet is one of the sacrifices you need to make when you go to the beach. For many, it's worth it to be able to swim in the sea, soak up the heat on a sunlounger, and play in the sand.
But there's no doubt it can be incredibly annoying - and some people really hate the feeling of the sand sticking to their wet feet. Some people might even list walking on dry sand as one of their favourite activities, but as soon as water, sweat and suncream come into the mix, it makes the gritty residue really hard to remove.
Luckily, one parent has shared a hack they learned which makes it really easy to remove wet sand from heat - which can be a game-changer when it comes to children.
Chris, founder of TKC (Totally Keen Creative), is a stay at home dad-of-six who regularly shared updates on his @totallykeen33 TikTok page. He recently shared the hack, and it's left people gobsmacked.
Captioning the video, Chris wrote: "If you're not doing this at the bach then you're doing it wrong..." He then shared that the only product you need is talcum powder, which can be picked up for £1.48 at Asda for a 400g bottle.
Chris continued: "Talcum powder instantly removes wet sand from your skin and makes your skin nice and soft too. It's a must-have for parents with young children who get sand everywhere!"
In the video, he showed himself applying talcum poweder to his child's feet, which are clearly caked in sand. He then simply subbed the feet, and the sand came away really easily. He added: "Works every time."
In the comments section, people were amazed by the hack. "Okay, I'm taking this on vacation now," said one person. Another wrote: "Love this. My son loves sand. Better than filling up his bucket with water and sand still everywhere." "This is a game-changer," wrote a third.
Others said they were already using the hack, and loved it. "Have done this for years with my children and grandchildren. It really works," said one person. "We have done this for years!" added another.
According to Medical News Today, talcum powder is known to absorb moisture and minimise skin irritation from friction. This means it should be a softer alternative to just rubbing the dry sand off on its own.
Other ways to remove sand from wet feetIf you don't want to use talcum powder, you can use a beach shower or tap if there's one nearby. Then dry your feet with a towel or let them air dry before putting shoes on. If showers aren't available, you can bring a jug or bottle with fresh water from home, and rinse your feet before walking or getting in your car.
If you find it hard to get the sand off after letting it air dry, you can use a soft brush or cloth to get it off more easily.
