Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service said in a statement on Thursday morning: "We are currently dealing with a fire at a recycling yard on Griffin Road in Ilkeston. Please avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident."
Locals living near the Ward Recycling site, a metal and waste management centre, have been urged to keep their doors and windows closed, they added. The statement read: "Due to smoke from the fire, please keep windows and doors closed in the area."
