A man has been left gobsmacked after discovering a secret bunker under his house - leading to a visit from the local museum.
He explained how he came across the secret space - which is twice the size of his home - after noticing something unusual about his library bookshelf.
The man, who lives in Nardo, Trondheim, Norway, came to realise the shelf opened up into a secret door that led him down into an underground bunker.
He said: "I live in a house that sits on top of a World War II bunker. When I bought the place, I knew about the 'wild card' unopened bunker hidden under the property, and my curiosity eventually got the better of me.
"The bunker had been covered with earth and sealed shut since the 1980s. After some investigation, we figured out there was a window under the dirt, and I just had to dig it up to get inside.
"From what I've learned through our local military museum, this area was once part of the Sunndal battery, established by German forces in June 1940. The site was chosen for its strategic position on the Nardo Plateau, with clear views in all directions."
During the war, soldiers built barns on the same land where his house now stands - and it eventually grew to include more than 20 buildings.
He said: "In 1944, the site became part of the 32nd Marineflak Regiment, and construction began on a new battery with 12.8cm cannons.
"Today, my bunker is still intact, and I've heard of other nearby bunkers being used as garages or storage, but mine had been untouched until now.
"Its size is approximately 136 square metres. The two largest rooms are about 3m x 10m. The hallway is 21m x 1m. The height is about 2.7m.
"Secret entrance through the library shelves. It's double the size of my house. The house is partially on top. I have no clue why this was."
Also he shared how he has been cleaning up the space but came across a sink, seating, and even a bicycle down there.
He added: "The military museum will visit next week, and I was wondering if there were any questions I should ask when they are here?"
Commenting on his post, one user said: "You just increased your square footage exponentially. Time to sell!"
Another user added: "At the rate the world is going, that might come in handy..."
A third user said: "I'd be so happy to find this."
