Europa League final: Tottenham win first trophy in 17 years as Man Utd humiliated

ended their 17-year wait for a major trophy by winning a scrappy final against . The north Londoners were under the cosh for much of the contest but only needed one goal to secure a historic victory. Brennan Johnson's messy finish just before the break was enough to give the north Londoners what they had been waiting for since 2008.

It was a game of very little quality, with neither team showing much of note. United were toothless up front and were made to pay the price for a costly lapse in concentration at the back. Tottenham were not exactly brilliant either, but the result was the only thing that mattered and they did just enough to get their hands on the trophy.
