One Emmerdale star was declared bankrupt on two occasions after suffering from financial issues. Wil Johnson starred as Dom Andrews in the ITV soap from 2012 to 2014. He reportedly began having money troubles before landing the role and was declared bankrupt for the first time in 2010. Shortly before leaving the show, he was declared broke once again after being unable to pay his debts.
Wil was written out of the soap following the death of his character's daughter, Gemma (Tendai Rinomhota). Speaking at the time of his exit, Wil said: "I've had a wonderful time playing Dom Andrews but, like with most things, you have to know when to leave the building, hopefully on a high hope." Despite having a history of financial problems, there is no indication that he is currently bankrupt.
The dad-of-seven has appeared in a number of TV shows, including The Bill, Waterloo Road, Walking the Dead, Death in Paradise and Holby City.
His most recent high profile role came in 2022 when he portrayed Ser Vaemond Velaryon in HBO's House of the Dragon - the prequel to Game of Thrones.
Some of the most popular soap stars have experienced bankruptcy in their lives, including icon Beverley Callard. The Corrie stalwart has played barmaid Liz McDonald on and off since 1989, with her final appearance in 2020.
After departing the soap in 2011 after eight years, Beverley revealed it was to spend more time with her mum, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
However, she ended up with financial troubles after being left with no other option but to quit her job.

The 68-year-old said in 2012: "It pushed me into bankruptcy and I guess I'll be paying for it for years, but regrets? Not one. It was horrific. I've worked non-stop since I was 16 and somehow it all seemed it had been for nothing.
"Corrie schedules are full-on. It's all or nothing and I had to face a choice between the Street or Mum. I love everything about Corrie but there could only be one answer."
In 2020, Beverley appeared on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. She was reportedly paid £125,000 for her appearance, making her one of the highest-paid female contestants that year.
