TV presenter Kim Atienza has paid heartbreaking tribute after confirming their TikTok star daughter Emman Atienza has died at the age of 19. He and his wife, businesswoman Felicia Hung, confirmed her "unexpected passing" at her home in Los Angeles but did not share a cause as authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
"It's with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our daughter and sister, Emman," the family said in a statement. "She brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her. Emman had a way of making people feel seen and heard, and she wasn't afraid to share her own journey with mental health. Her authenticity helped so many feel less alone.To honor Emman's memory, we hope you carry forward the qualities she lived by: compassion, courage, and a little extra kindness in your everyday life."
Her agency also paid tribute fittingly taking to social media to share their grief. "Sparkle GMA Artist Center deeply mourns the passing of Emman Atienza. Our sincere condolences go out to her family and loved ones. She will always be remembered as a cherished member of the Sparkle and Status by Sparkle family."
The young star was a social media sensation with over 224,000 followers on Instagram and 866,000 Tik Tok fans, generating over 44.5 million likes.
Her devoted followers flooded her channels with tributes as they learnt the sad news. "Can't believe you're gone. You were always present, silly, fun loving, bubbly and a light to be around. RIP Emman," one wrote.
"You'll never be forgotten. Thank you for your voice, for fighting with us even in a short period of time. You helped so many people find their will and to see another day," another added. A third chimed in: "You never knew me, but I've been a silent fan. Your videos brought light to my darkest days. Somehow, you made me smile again."
"Emman, I found joy watching your tiktok video way. I was in isolation, and seems breathing not really living, your attempt to say tagalog words always left me laughing. Find peace Emman, and run far as you want," a fourth shared.
"Rest in peace Emman. You actually helped me with my depression 2mos ago after watching your video last June," a fifth admitted. Meanwhile a sixth penned: "Emman... you made me laugh a lot with your posts and all when I was having a hard time... no... this can't be real. I have no words."
Her last video, posted three days ago, was a compilation clip showing her and her friends diving into a lake, rock climbing, and dancing.
Her father Kim Atienza is known for his trivia stints on TV and radio, particularly in his own show, Matanglawin. He is currently working at GMA Network as a presenter for 24 Oras and 24 Oras Weekend, and as the host of daytime variety game show TiktoClock and the infotainment program Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim!.
