Caitlin Clark breaks silence on joining rival basketball league with two-word comment

WNBA star has finally broken her silence over in the newly formed Unrivaled league. The Indiana Fever player, who is fresh off the back of her record-breaking rookie season, is said to have received a '-like' opportunity to become one of the competition's highest-paid stars.

But the 22-year-old has refused to commit to signing up to the 3v3 format, which is co-founded by WNBA players Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.

And fans are no closer to knowing if they'll see the point guard in action after her latest two-word answer to enquiries.

Asked by if she's joining, Clark simply said "We'll see." The Iowa College graduate then implied that with the league getting underway on January 17, 2025, she won't be making a decision until much nearer the time, adding: "I don't know. Just taking it as it goes, and see if I want to play eventually."

Unrivaled has thus far confirmed 30 players, with the full roster of 36 due to be confirmed by November 20. But prior to the eight-week campaign getting underway, training camp starts for those involved on January 2.

In October, reported that Clark had been given a substantial financial offer to join the league. Fever team-mates Alive Boston and Lexie Hull have already signed up, and Unrivaled President Alex Bazzell has declared the door is open for her.

League chiefs have previously boasted they will offer players in the league opportunities to receive the highest average salary in US women's professional sport, promising minimum six-figure salaries. There will also be a mid-season 2025 1v1 tournament, with the winner set to be rewarded with a cheque for £192,000.

A television deal has already been struck with TNT, and the inclusion of Clark would inevitably boost media interest. Following her maiden WNBA season, she was crowned Rookie of the Year and named in the All-Star team.

But she previously vowed to . This month, she'll make her LPGA Tour debut at the Pelican Golf Club Florida, where she'll compete alongside the world's best in the Pro-Am.

The event, named 'The Annika Driven' is being organised by Swedish icon Annika Sorenstam. She's described Clark's willingness to play as "awesome" for the sport.
