Bryan Mbeumo might not be taking part in Manchester United's pre-season training yet, as Ruben Amorim would have liked when pinpointing his second major summer target. However, the Brentford forward appears to be paying close attention to his potential future team-mates at Carrington as he waits to complete a transfer.

United are still locked in negotiations with the Bees over Mbeumo's transfer fee, having seen two opening bids rejected. In five weeks since the Red Devils emerged as Mbeumo's chosen destination, offers worth £55million and £62.5m have failed to lure him away from West London.

Brentford are believed to value the 25-year-old higher than Matheus Cunha, who landed at Old Trafford in a £62.5m deal at the start of the summer.

United's latest bid was made up of a guaranteed £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons, but Brentford appear to be holding out for at least £60m up front.

And while they prepare to launch what they hope will be a third and final offer, Mbeumo is keeping tabs on the club's preparations.

On Friday, eagle-eyed supporters noticed that Mbeumo had followed United centre-back Leny Yoro on Instagram.

And the Cameroon international went one step further in exciting fans desperate for his arrival by liking the 19-year-old's latest post.

Captioned 'ReUnited', Yoro shared three images from his return to training at Carrington, one of which displayed a battle for the ball with Mason Mount.

According to Cameroon assistant manager Ashu Cyprian Besong, Mbeumo is growing frustrated with how long his United transfer is taking.

However, the struggle has highlighted how cash-strapped the 20-time English champions are this summer after finishing 15th in last season's Premier League.

A failure to qualify for the Champions League via losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur inflicted severe financial damage.

While it has not yet marred United's efforts to upgrade their options with Cunha and Mbeumo, it has undoubtedly made the start of Amorim's rebuild more difficult.

The M16 giants require player sales to fund any further signings beyond the Premier League-proven attacking duo. Diego Leon has also completed his £3.3m switch from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno.

Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia are not training with Amorim's squad as they seek new clubs.
