Saturday Kitchen viewers were left fuming over a cured cold fish dish made by hosts Matt Tebbutt and chef Ravinder Bhogal, which she described as the "perfect summer starter." She explained to BBC fans at home: "It's really good for those days where you really don't want to switch on the stove when it's really hot. It's sweet melon with cured seabream, with jalapeno and lime dressing."
Matt described the dish as "beautiful and very you" to Ravinder as the camera shot a close-up of the colourful dish, where the fish was draped over pieces of honeydew melon and covered in pesto. "It's a little bit from here, a little bit from there - I like it," Matt added before making it from scratch for viewers to see how to put the recipe together.
However, as the pair were putting together the starter, fans flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their concerns about the cuisine.
One person penned: "#SaturdayKitchen Can serving raw food really be called cooking?"
A second added: "Raw fish at this time in the morning. No, thank you #SaturdayKitchen."
"#SaturdayKitchen I'm always a bit wary of things not cooked, especially fish," one viewer added. "Never had ceviche."
Someone else remarked: "Can they not serve the food on individual plates instead of everyone eating from the same dish and putting their germ-covered spoons back in? They always do this on the show. Why?!"
However, a fifth said: "Cured food is NOT raw, ffs #saturdaykitchen." Another said: "Loving all the fish and fresh summer recipes this week. And I LOVE the white witch!"
Saturday Kitchen airs on Saturdays from 10am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
