Viewers tuning into 's Have I Got News For You were in for a surprise as American comedian Roy Wood Jr. took on hosting duties in a recent episode, bringing a fresh face and perspective to the beloved satirical show.

Known for his role on the U.S. version of the show, fans quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their excitement and praise for the new host.

Fans were clearly delighted with Roy's performance, with comments flooding in such as, "Roy Wood Jnr absolutely smashing it," and "Roy Wood Jr is a delight." Another fan celebrated his presence, saying, "I love that @roywoodjr is on #hignfy. The US version is brilliant." Praises continued, with one viewer remarking, "Excellent #hignfy tonight. @roywoodjr is brilliant. He hosts the US version, which is hilarious."

Roy himself also took to X to share his excitement about hosting the UK version of Have I Got News For You.

"Flew to London this week to guest host the original @haveigotnews and make sense of Election Day. See y'all back stateside next week Nov 15 for an all new @hignfyus," he posted, adding a shoutout to his fans on both sides of the Atlantic.

Known for his sharp wit and humor, Roy kicked off the episode with an opening line that had the audience laughing. "I usually host the American version of this show," he joked, "but I'm here in the UK seeking asylum."

The quip referenced the surprising election results back in the U.S., where defied expectations by winning every battleground state and the popular vote, sending and the Democrats packing.

Fans were so thrilled with his appearance on the show they even made a plea to BBC bosses to bring him on as a permanent host.

"Roy Wood Jr on every week please, absolutely brilliant," begged one fan.

"We need to see more of Roy Wood on #HIGNFY," another echoed.

A third added: "Roy wood Jnr absolutely smashing it," and: "#hignfy get #roywoodjr to host it permanently one of the best episodes in ages."
