BBC Countryfile slapped with complaints as angry viewers slam 'pointless' episode

BBC fans issued the same complaint about the latest instalment of the farming programme.

During the latest episode, Matt Baker and Charlotte Smith visited a farm in Cambridgeshire where pioneering farmer David Mwanaka is growing 485 acres of crops from his native Zimbabwe, including white maize.

They also visited a community farm growing rare crops, including oca and quinoa, while Adam Henson was in Cornwall helping out with a tea harvest.

However, just minutes into the programme, fans took to social media to share their thoughts, and not everyone was happy. Some fans were unimpressed with the episode's content, labeling it "boring."

One fan wrote: " Boring #countryfile today."

Another complained: "This first story is really terribly done - nothing but a never-ending pointless interview- no one does anything except drive to nowhere, apparently."

Picking fault at the maize segment, a third viewer said: "Just what you want at a crucial time for the harvest .... Matt Baker, in a flat cap, asking inane questions #countryfile."

"I can't believe what I'm watching on @BBCCountryfile tonight- maize and specialty Cornish-grown tea-our farmers must be spitting feathers," someone else fumed.

One person issued a plea to show bosses: "I'd have preferred a more general Harvest edition, like sort of news about many more farms and crops, #CountryFile."

However, not everyone shared the same opinion as one fan beamed: "@BBCCountryfile Teabot in Cornwall. Fantastic, love it. Definitely want to buy some, and drink some good real tea. Does that estate do tea tastings?" (sic)

Matt even paused the programme at one point to plug the Countryfile's calendar.

He said, "I think we are fast realising that the key to a farming enterprise like this, especially where family is concerned, is one thing."

"Go on," Charlotte probed, to which Matt replied, "Yes, and there is one thing missing from around here."

Matt laughed as he asked: "Do you know where I am going with this?"

As the penny dropped for Charlotte, Matt beamed, "Look at this. This is what they need; it's the Countryfile calendar."
