Alan Carr's former husband claimed the comedian possesses a hidden "ruthless streak". The chat show presenter became the first winner of The Celebrity Traitors after successfully deceiving the Faithfuls for weeks on end.
The star caught viewers off guard when he came out on top in the BBC programme, despite appearing to struggle with concealing his Traitor identity effectively - bursting into laughter and sweating profusely every time he was questioned. However, he managed to remain undetected by his fellow Faithfuls, securing the complete prize fund for his chosen charity. Alan became emotional when his true in-game identity was finally revealed and he became tearful, admitting that he had found the weight of being a Traitor challenging. But now, his former spouse has suggested that he is actually much different to what people see on screen. Alan's ex-husband, Paul Drayton, claimed the entertainer possesses a "ruthless streak" and that he becomes "very different" away from the public eye.
Alan and Paul ended their relationship in 2022 following 13 years together and three years of matrimony. They kept the reasons for their separation private but described it as a "mutual" choice.
During an interview, Paul revealed that Alan can become "a very different person" when the cameras stop rolling. He also maintained that his friendship with vocalist Paloma Faith has been overplayed for Celebrity Traitors.
Speaking to the press, Paul shared: "The person I would see at home was very different to the Alan you see on TV - and he does have a ruthless streak.
"He will only take so much and then he will say, 'You're taking the p*ss, I don't want anything more to do with you'. He was tolerant most of the time when we were together, but if he felt someone was taking advantage of him, he would cut them out of his life."
Paloma Faith became the inaugural victim to be "eliminated" in Celebrity Traitors - and shockingly, it was Alan himself who sealed her fate.
Alan operated as a Traitor alongside Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns, receiving orders to eliminate someone in full view of everyone. One of the trio had to make physical contact with a Faithful's face, which would seal their doom.
Alan cleverly executed the task by informing Paloma she had something on her face before brushing away the imaginary debris. Since then, Paloma has been outspoken about her disappointment regarding her mate's decision to target her first.
She unleashed her fury on the Uncloaked podcast, saying: "Categorically, he had a choice - maybe it was the easiest option, but it was the choice he made and I don't think it was very nice."
However, it seems the two have reconciled as Alan posted a comical clip referencing the backstabbing. In footage posted online, Paloma asked: "What kind of cocktail do you feel like, Alan?"
Beaming at the camera, he replied: "Oh, I don't know - I could murder a Paloma." Alan wrote alongside the clip: "Anyone thirsty? love you @palomafaith #forgiveme."
