Rourkela: A youth sustained critical injuries after being shot at by 2-3 miscreants near Traffic Gate market in Odisha’s Rourkela on Monday.
The injured has been identified as Abhesh Ray.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 9.30 am and the assailants fired two rounds after a heat argument with Ray. He was hit in the back and rushed to Rourkela Government Hospital in a critical condition by locals and later shifted to Ispat General Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Police have recovered two bullet shells from the location and begun an investigation.
Though the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, one Sagar and his associates are said to be involved in the firing incident. Ray also has criminal antecedents and was out on bail after being jailed in a double murder case at Traffic Market.
