Every UK supermarket opening time for this weekend's May bank holiday

The early May means the opening times of your favourite supermarket may be a little different this weekend. The early May bank holiday is today on Monday, May 5.

The second May bank holiday, which is also known as the bank holiday, in later this month on Monday, May 26. The good news is, stores are generally open this Monday - but some are operating under shorter opening hours.

Tesco

On the bank holiday Monday, the larger stores in England and Wales are opening at around 8am and will be closing at 6pm. In , the majority will be closing a little later at 8pm. Tesco's convenience stores opened as normal all weekend - inlcuding today.

Sainsbury's

On the bank holiday Monday, larger stores open from 8am until 8pm. Scottish Sainsbury's stores also open from 8am until 8pm. Sainsbury's convenience stores usually open from 6am or 7am to 10pm and 11pm - even on Sundays - and this will remain the same today.

Morrisons

On the bank holiday Monday, larger supermarket stores open at 7am and will be closing earlier, with the majority of stores pulling down the shutters at 8pm. Morrisons Daily stores opened 7am until 10pm all weekend, and this includes the bank holiday Monday - although some will be open a little later until 11pm.

Asda

On the Bank Holiday itself, stores will be opening a little later than usual with some stores opening between 7am and 8am and will be closing at 10pm. Scottish Asda stores will open under their usual hours all weekend. The chain's smaller convenience stores, Asda Express, are normally open for 24 hours every day, even on Sundays and bank holidays.

Aldi

On the bank holiday Monday, shops will close slightly earlier than normal. Instead of closing at 10pm, Aldi has confirmed that the majority of shops will shut at 8pm. Again, the exception is in Scotland, where regular 8am until 10pm shopping hours will be in place for most stores.

Lidl

On the bank holiday Monday, Lidl stores appear to be opening later at 8am and will be open until their normal closing time of 10pm. Although this can vary depending on where your local store is based, for example, if it's in a shopping centre then it could close earlier.
