Bear Wolf will be involved in a "big story" on in the coming months, it has been revealed. The character is expected to spark concern in the upcoming storyline when he finally returns to the village after some time away.
The storyline, which is set to play out over the summer and in the autumn, has been teased by producer Laura Shaw. It's just on the show, with it announced that there are some "twists" ahead on the soap.
Laura spoke to and other outlets about what's to come later in the year recently. She teased some huge moments and revealed that a worrying storyline will focus on the character Bear, who's played by Joshua Richards.
Bear - who was introduced in 2019 as the father of Paddy Kirk () - is set to take centre stage after being a supporting character in some storylines over the last year. Details are being kept under wraps for now, but Laura gave some insight into the plot ahead of it being revealed.
The producer shared that Bear will disappear for some time as part of the mysterious storyline. He later returns to the village but it's said to be clear that something has happened as Bear acts out of character and doesn't seem the same.
She said fans will be left questioning what has happened to Bear, who will first spend "a little while" off-screen. Laura said that it's "really exciting" and described the storyline as "big," adding that viewers will see a "different Bear".
Whilst discussing upcoming storylines on the show, she told us in the recent interview: "Coming up this summer and into autumn, the character of Bear has a big story coming up for him. He is going to go off-screen for a little while."
Laura said: "He goes missing and when he comes back, what you'll see is a very different Bear in a really different situation. We're all going to be watching and going 'what the hell has happened here'." She added: "That's really exciting."
Elsewhere in the interview, Laura also teased that someone takes a revenge on Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) in scenes yet to air. Several characters will have it out for him as his actions from recent months are exposed to residents.
Laura said: "It's brilliant. It's all about who pushed Joe Tate." Teasing over events unfolding at a party, she said: "There's lots of people and lots of daggers drawn. A lot of people are looking at [Joe] and want him dead. I can tell you that one person definitely will be getting their revenge on Joe."
She teased ahead of the upcoming scenes: "Will they succeed with their murderous act? We'll have to wait and see. There's a little bit of a homage to the who killed Tom King storyline in there, a couple of little in there."
Emmerdale continues tomorrow from 7.30pm on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
