Coronation Street star teases 'rocky ride' as secrets exposed before Joel killer revealed

star Vicky Myers has teased whether DS Swain killed Joel Deering, or whether her character would be the one to solve the case.

Swain was furious recently to be kicked off the case due to her link to Joel, after her daughter Betsy Swain got caught up in his vile antics. With Betsy threatened by Joel before his death, Swain found herself forced to ditch the case with everything handed over to Kit Green.

Swain hasn't dropped things though, trying to find clues about what really happened to Joel - and next week viewers will see her confronting more suspects. But she may also find herself under the spotlight, amid fans questioning if she could have killed Joel.

Viewers know Swain has been sporting a nasty injury, flinching and in pain. Next week we find out it could well be linked to the very night Joel vanished and was eventually murdered.

So does Lisa know something about Joel's death? Is her injury linked to Joel or could it all be a coincidence? Speaking about what's ahead and possibly ruling herself out, Vicky said of Swain and who she suspects of killing Joel: "I don’t think Lisa trusts anybody and in some instances she doesn't trust herself.

"She needs to learn to trust herself again. She doesn’t trust anybody. But that's not just aimed at Kit. She doesn't trust Carla. She doesn't trust anyone. And also the profession that she's in, she knows that in any given circumstances, anybody is capable of anything, including herself."

Vicky went on: "She wants to continue to get to the truth, because her thing is very much getting to the truth. But she doesn't mind taking along another prisoner if she needs to." On whether Swain could be hiding something about that night, she teased more about her injury.

She said: "Perhaps! Yeah, she absolutely has something to hide. But being a person in the profession that she's in, there are different scraps and scrapes that you get into, but maybe not to the magnitude that would present with bruising like that.

"So what has happened there? And the fact that she has lied and said to Betsy about body combat, that adds more question marks to it. So hopefully the truth will out in time.

"So who knows what secrets people hide? Who knows what skeletons are in the closet, especially this time of year! So hold on, because it's going to be a rocky ride, and nothing's ever plain sailing in Weatherfield, is it?"
