Coronation Street's Asha Alahan was left wondering if her brother was alive or dead on Tuesday night's episode. The trainee paramedic, who has been played by Tanisha Gorey since 2009, has been on the edge in recent episodes thanks to the insurmountable pressures of her job.
Fans of theITV soap, which does not normally air on a Tuesday evening, will know that Asha's twin brother Aadi (Adam Hussain) is saying goodbye to the fictional Manchester backstreet in favour of a life in India. Earlier this week, Asha was seen sobbing into her phone as she recorded a voice note in which she told Aadi just how much she didn't want him to go, but it seemed as if she hadn't sent it.
As he prepared to leave home, Aadi had a lunch in the Bistro with his dad Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and Mary Taylor (Patti Clare), who became his and Asha's nanny after their mother Sunita (Shobna Gulati) was killed in the Rovers Return fire in 2013. He presented Mary with a pendant featuring her favourite character from Monopoly, and then confronted waitress Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney). They shook hands, seemingly drawing a line under the romance that had sparked between them the other night when they shared a kiss in the Rovers before heading off.

Hours earlier, Asha gave her brother a hug as he prepared to say his goodbyes and claimed she didn't really know how to feel. But in a shock twist, she was then called to deal with a car accident on the other street and, to her horror, realised that it was Aadi's car that had been involved in the car crash.
Storming onto the scene, she exclaimed: "That's my brother's car!" but soon realised the car was empty. As Aadi wandered onto the scene to spot his motor in ruins, a Asha threw her arms around him.
She shouted: "What was I meant to think?" as relief sank im. Officials on the scene explained that the car had been stolen by two youths and Asha was then seen back at number seven with a cup of tea to help deal with the shock.

Dev had not told her that the car had been taken from Webster's garage where it had been in for service, and Aadi offered to cancel his plans stay in Weatherfield.
Despite this, Asha, said: "No, Aadi, you have to go. I just thought the worst. Don't let this stop you from going. Please." DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) was quick to get on the case, and she tells Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) that she has some witnesses.
As she barged into the office to view the CCTV, Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) warned his fellow mechanic that his brother Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) was not likely to react well when he heard that another car had been stolen.
What viewers know, however, is that he had been working with Fiona Morley (Sara Poyzer) to carry out a host of dodgy deals on his brother's business.
Kevin sacked him when he found this out, threatened to go to the police unless he kept his secret at the time that he had not told his wife Abi (Sally Carman) that he had received the all-clear from his cancer diagnosis.
The truth did eventually come out, and Abi, who has since forgiven her husband for his lies, immediately sparked up an affair with her brother-in-law, which Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) has waded in on and demanded £10,000 from them to keep quiet.
It later transpired that the car theft had been set up by Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) and two of his friends, who cornered him and demanded money before Carl caught them and came to his rescue by ordering them to clear off. Brody confided in him: "I felt like I was gonna get my head kicked in," as Carl assured him that wasn't going to happen. In a twist, it became apparent that Carl was also involved as he reassured the teenager that it was 'going to work out great' for them both once the money came in.
On the doorstep of number seven, Asha reassured Aadi that she was fine yet again and he gifted her his favourite hoodie as a keepsake. Dev took one last picture of his children and Aadi took one last look at the street before heading off for good. Asha, already reeling from her racist attack earlier in the week, had a heart-to-heart with Lisa , and she ordered her to report the incident.
