'That Woman MP's Only Agenda Is To Attack PM Modi & Adani': Kalyan Banerjee Slams Party Colleague Amid Chat Leak Row

Kolkata: After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaks videos and chat on spat between Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs, TMC calls it to be their ‘shame’.

TMC is in middle of a political crisis after the saffron camp had leaked videos of spat between TMC Serampore MP Kalyan Banerjee with TMC’s woman MP, whom Banerjee didn’t name and TMC’s Bardhaman-Durgapur MP Kirti Azad.

Addressing a press conference, Banerjee on Tuesday said that the woman MP’s only agenda is to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Adani.

“I am the only TMC MP who protests inside the House. The woman MP didn’t fight against the CPI (M). She had joined the party as a friend of a Congress leader. I know all of their backgrounds. By just speaking fluent English you don’t have the right to insult a man,” said the TMC Serampore MP.

Soon after the public spat between two TMC MPs in the precincts of the Election Commission of India on 4th April 2025, the irate MP continued slandering the ‘Versatile International Lady (VIL)’…

Taking further potshots, Banerjee said that if the party Supremo thinks he is wrong then he will ‘quit’ politics.

“One of our party MPs came from BJP. He was running a signature campaign to open a sweet shop in the Parliament. This was not the decision of the party but that particular MP’s interest. He has given the videos to the BJP. There was a brawl but the woman MP suddenly called the BSF posted there and wanted to arrest me,” further mentioned Banerjee.

Asked about the party's reputation after the spat came out in open , Banerjee said that party also earned a bad name when party’s MP Saugata Roy was seen taking money in Narada sting operation.

Notably, in the purported video sent by BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya it was seen that TMC Serampore MP was having a verbal slugfest and TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’ Brien was consoling Banerjee. However, the videos were not verified by FPJ.

Meanwhile, TMC MP Saugata Roy said that Kalyan Banerjee should be removed from the post of chief-whip in Lok Sabha.

“I am very upset as due to Kalyan’s behaviour our party’s image is getting tarnished. I don’t know why he (Kalyan Banerjee) is targeting me. Our parliamentary party chairperson Sudip Bandyopadhyay has a cool mind, but since he is unwell he cannot attend the House regularly,” added the TMC Dum Dum MP. However, TMC MP Kirti Azad refused to comment on the issue.
