'Complete Annual Target Of Horticulture Scheme Within Time Limit': Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Divisional commissioner Deepak Singh has instructed the officers to complete the annual target of agricultural production and horticulture scheme within the time limit.

During the divisional review meeting of the horticulture and food processing department held at his office on Monday, Singh reviewed the schemes, programmes and activities related to crop production being run by the department in the division.

Singh said that the beneficiaries should be informed about the benefits of Integrated Horticulture Development Mission Scheme (MIDH) and be connected with this scheme.

“Promote rose cultivation, gerbera cultivation etc. in the division. Also run programmes to promote organic farming, vermicompost and vermi bed,” he directed.

The divisional commissioner said that work should be done in a planned manner within the stipulated time frame with priority being given to the works of horticulture and food processing. Disciplinary action would be taken against the officers who were negligent in their work, he warned.

It was disclosed in the meeting that at present the agricultural area of Madhya Pradesh was 27.71 lakh hectares, out of which the area of Indore division was 4.18 lakh hectares. Madhya Pradesh’s share in the total horticulture export of the country was 1.92%. The proposed area for the year 2025-26 was 4,34,195 hectares.

In the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on horticultural crops in the division. Fruit area expansion of the state funded scheme, spice area, protected farming, farmer training- cum- tour, drip and portable sprinkle were also discussed. Officials also put forward their suggestions in the meeting.
