Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The district administration has rolled out a new comprehensive plan involving coordinated action and rehabilitation efforts, to make Bhopal a beggary-free district. Under the direction of Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh, eight teams have been formed under the supervision of all SDMs across zones. These teams will patrol the city and conduct raids as per a pre-decided weekly schedule. These teams will conduct city-wide tours and raids based on a weekly roster. Alongside, a special ward for elderly and ailing monks will be set up at Government Hamidia Hospital.
A meeting chaired by ADM Prakash Nayak, under the direction of Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh, finalised the detailed action plan. Various departments including Police, Municipal Corporation, Labour, Social Justice, Women and Child Development and SC/ST Welfare have been included in the teams to ensure coordinated implementation.

The administration has invited proposals from experienced and capable voluntary organisations to operate this facility. Interested NGOs must submit their proposals by 5 pm on July 15. An earlier order issued on February 3 by the Collector prohibits both begging and the act of giving alms in public places.
Two teams will operate daily
ADM told Free Press that two teams will operate daily according to the weekly schedule, which will be officially released on Monday. The plan is aimed at distributing responsibilities efficiently and ensuring consistent action.
