Ganesha Chaturthi 2025 Date: Ganesh Utsav starts every year from the Chaturthi date of the Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month. On this day, the idol of Lord Ganesha is installed in homes and pandals, and worship is done with devotion and enthusiasm for ten days. On the day of Anant Chaturdashi, Ganpati Bappa is immersed in rituals. This year, Chaturthi Tithi will start from 01:54 pm on 26 August and will end on 03:44 pm on 27 August. According to the Panchang, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on 27 August 2025, and Ganesha Sthapana will be done on the same day.

According to astrological belief, the most auspicious time for the establishment of Ganesha is midday, as this is considered to be his birth time. This time the auspicious time of worship will be from 11:05 am to 01:40 pm. Special preparations for this festival, which is celebrated with pomp all over the country, start in advance in homes and pandals. However, before installing Ganesh, it is necessary to know some special rules and methods. If you are going to welcome Lord Ganesha at home, then know the correct method and rules.

Ganesh Puja initiation method and mantra

To start the puja, first fill a vessel with water and bring it to the place of worship. Spread a mat and sit where the pavilion has been made. In the beginning, take kusha and water in your hand and After this, sprinkle water on yourself and all the puja materials. Rinse three times. Then take water in your hand and chant “Om Keshavaya Namah, Om Narayanay Namah, Om Madhavaya Namah, Om Hrishikeshay Namah” three times, and finally wash your hands.

Now, place some Akshat (unbroken rice) at the place where Ganesha is to be installed. On top of those, Akshat, place the idol of Lord Ganesha properly and start the puja.

Ganpati Bappa Sthapana Vidhi

Install the idol of Ganesha in the north-east corner of the house and keep the idol facing north.

Before placing the idol, clean it and purify it with Gangajal.

After purifying the seat, spread a red cloth on it and place Akshat (rice) on top. Then install Ganpati Bappa with pure hands.

Keep Riddhi-Siddhi near the idol. If idols are not available, betel nuts can be placed in their place.

Install a Kalash filled with water on the right side of Ganpati Ji.

At the beginning of the puja, meditate with flowers and Akshat in your hand.

Offer fruits, flowers, and sweets to Ganpati Bappa.

Chant the mantra "Om Gan Ganpatye Namah" during the puja.

Finally, complete the puja by performing the aarti of Ganpati ji.

Rules for Ganesh installation

If you are installing the idol of Ganpati Bappa in the house, always keep it in the north-east direction and keep in mind that the idol faces towards the west.

Clean and purify the place thoroughly before installation. There should be no garbage or impurity there.

Install the idol of Ganesh ji only in the auspicious time.

After installation, do puja, aarti, and bhog every morning and evening. Offer incense and a lamp to the Lord.

Once the idol is installed, do not remove it in the middle. Ganesh ji can be moved only at the time of immersion.

Do not consume or enter non-veg, alcohol and negative items in the house for 10 days of Ganesh Utsav.

Try not to use onion and garlic during this time and take a satvik diet.
