A mild earthquake of magnitude 3.8 struck Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district in Telangana on Monday evening, according to the National Center for Seismology.
The tremor was recorded at 6.50 pm. The earthquake's epicenter was located at latitude 19.21°N and longitude 79.41°E, with a depth of 10 kilometers, reported NCS.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
India was the third country to be hit by an earthquake on Monday.
Earlier in the day, a slightly stronger earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 hit Pakistan at 4pm. As per the NCS, its epicenter was at latitude 36.60°N and longitude 72.89°E, also at a depth of 10 kilometers.
No casualties or property damage have been reported so far. Shallow quakes like these can be more dangerous as they release energy closer to the Earth’s surface, often leading to stronger ground shaking.
In another incident, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the east coast of Taiwan. According to Taiwan’s weather administration, the quake occurred about 30 kilometers offshore at a depth of 6.6 kilometers.
The tremor briefly shook buildings in the capital, Taipei, but no damage or injuries were immediately reported. Taiwan, located near the meeting point of two tectonic plates, frequently experiences seismic activity.
