Suryakumar Yadav Breaks KL Rahul's Record, Sets New IPL Milestone

India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is plying his trade for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025. On April 27, in the course of Mumbai Indians' 10th match of the season, he created history by becoming the quickest batter to reach 4000 runs in IPL (in terms of balls). Surya took 2714 balls to achieve 4000 runs. He surpassed KL Rahul, who had taken 2820 balls to achieve 4000 runs. Chris Gayle comes third with 2920 balls.

 

Surya is the 17th overall to have scored 4000 runs in IPL. Among players, he is the eighth to have over 4000 runs in the league. The Mumbai batter, who is in top form this season, required 33 runs against LSG to become the fastest player to score 4000 runs in IPL. He achieved the milestone by driving a boundary off the second ball of the 13th over bowled by Avesh Khan.

 

In his innings, Suryakumar Yadav has scored four fours and four sixes. His first six of the match also enabled him to reach 150 sixes in IPL.

Suryakumar Yadav not only crossed the 4000 run mark, but also surpassed Kieron Pollard's record of 3412 runs to become the second-highest run scorer of Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma is the highest run scorer of MI and has scored 5698 runs in 221 matches with two hundreds and 37 half-centuries. SKY now has 3413 runs to his name in MI jersey in the Indian Premier League (IPL). 

 

The deputy of Hardik Pandya continued his form this season. Suryakumar Yadav scored 54 runs off 28 balls before scalped his wicket in the 18th over. In 10 innings so far, SKY has amassed 427 runs at an average of 61 and he will take the field in the second inning with an orange over his head.
