What is a fake university?

Under the UGC Act of 1956, a university can only grant degrees if it is recognized by the government. However, these 22 institutions were claiming to be universities without any permission. The UGC has clearly stated that the degrees of students studying under these institutions will not be valid.

Delhi witnesses the most fraud!

A hub of fake universities was discovered in the capital, Delhi. A total of 10 fake institutions were discovered here. Recently, the Institute of Management and Engineering, operating in Kotla Mubarakpur, was also found to be fake. Neither the Central Government nor the Delhi Government had granted it recognition. Despite this, they were awarding degrees like MBA and B.Tech.

UGC issued this advice
