Our Yorkshire Farm star Reuben Owen opens up on leaving Ravenseat

Star of Our Yorkshire Farm, Reuben Owen, has candidly opened up about his desire to leave Ravenseat Farm.

Viewers of 'Our Farm Next Door: Amanda Clive and Kids' watched as Amanda Owen and her flock embarked on the challenge of restoring a derelict farmhouse. They faced off against the harsh elements of the Dales at one of the UK's most isolated building sites.

On the programme, Amanda shared her vision for breathing new life into the old property and her hopes that some of her children might eventually swap their life at the family's Ravenseat Farm for the updated premises. Reuben chimed in, too, signalling his intention to spread his wings from the homestead sooner rather than later.

While delving into details about the property purchase, Amanda confessed: "When Anty John's was put up for sale, it was a dream come 'true', really. It is a little farm cottage with a barn attached, just short of 40 acres."

Clive Owen weighed in with his thoughts, saying: "It is nice to own a piece of this wonderful valley, and because there are so many of us, a house is certainly going to come in handy because who will live there? We haven't even thought about that; we have no idea, but somebody will," .

Discussing the reasoning behind the investment, Amanda mentioned: "This is for the future because, of course, with all these children, they all need a place they can call home."

Confessing to the camera within the episode, Reuben remarked: "Other than Ravenseat, it is probably one of the only places I'd consider living happily."

In the show's latest instalment, broadcast on Monday, Amanda made quite a sobering discovery about Anty John's previous inhabitants.

During her visit to Derek at the County Records Office, they stumbled upon the past owner's diary, revealing he had died on the premises.

They probed further into the lineage and shifted their focus to John Clarkson, Anthony's son and the final Clarkson to reside in Anty John's.

Amongst Derek's findings was John's inquest record, which Amanda remarked was a sombre reflection of his last days. Pouring over the documents, she revealed: "The body of the man, aged about 81, is lying dead at Smithy Home (Anty John's).

"Time of death 6am, 5th December 1900. At about 9am on Tuesday, the housekeeper, Anne, proposed to send for the doctor, but the deceased would not hear of it."

Reflecting on this morbid find, she commented: "I know it's kind of morbid, but it sort of humanizes people when you hear about it. So basically, we know in 1900, the last Clarkson died upstairs in a bedroom at Smithy Home."

Our Farm Next Door: Amanda Clive and Kids is set to return to More4 next Monday at 9pm.
