Chelsea Club World Cup parade decision emerges as players make feelings clear

Chelsea will not have a parade to celebrate any Club World Cup triumph should they defeat PSG in the final of the competition this weekend.

football.london understands that a decision to host a parade would be unpopular with the squad with the majority set to jet off on holiday once the tournament comes to a close.

The Blues' 2024-25 season will have spanned a remarkable 52 weeks after beginning pre-season on Tuesday, July 9 2024.

The final on Sunday, July 13 will beChelsea's 64th match of the campaign, the joint-second most the club has played in the Premier League era.

Chelsea players involved in the tournament are planning to jet off with their familiaes following the final in New York this weekend.

The decision not to host a parade will see players given three weeks off before they start their pre-season preparations for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Chelsea players will earn substantial bonuses for reaching the final and will receive a greater financial windfall should they defeat Luis Enrique's PSG side.

Enzo Maresca'sside will pocket up to £87.5 million for participation in the new look tournament and any financial bonuses for players are seen as a just reward for the shorter summer break.

Most Chelsea players are expected to report to training on Monday, August 4, meaning they'll have just two weeks to prepare for the upcoming campaign.

The Blues are set to take on Crystal Palace on Sunday, August 17 with the Premier League unwilling to move Chelsea's opening game of the season and have expressed concerns about the amount of games being played in the calendar year.

Their most recent outing was an impressive one for new signing Joao Pedro, whose brace against Fluminense booked the Blues spot in the final, while PSG ran out 4-0 winners against Real Madrid with a real statament of intent.
